Bankstown Sports Club – New York Corridor

Paynter Dixon was appointed by Bankstown Sports Club to refurbish an under-utilised corridor.

The result? A New York-themed corridor which playfully evokes an iconic street aesthetic within the popular venue.

The corridor serves a purpose in linking patrons to multiple areas and themed destinations within the club, including popular Asian kitchens and the Italian village charm of La Piazza.

Patrons walk past mock shop fronts including a bakery, delicatessen and box office.

The Central Park area offers park bench seating against a wall-length backdrop of the city skyline. A sign points to the subway, and an authentic iron manhole cover – sourced from Michigan  – is embedded in the sidewalk.

The corridor refurbishment was completed safely in a live environment with works staged on alternating sides of the corridor to enable thoroughfare.
