Hyde Park Plaza – Rooftop

The Hyde Park Plaza is a prominent residential address in the heart of Sydney’s CBD.

Our Remedial team was appointed by the Body Corporate to oversee refurbishment of the rooftop, which boasts panoramic views of the city and harbour.

With the scope of works comprising a new spa, pergola, gymnasium, viewing platform, decking and refurbished pool, the transformed rooftop represents a significant uplift of the strata community leisure facilities.

Innovations

The refurbishment presented an opportunity to implement energy efficiency measures. New cooling towers were installed to enhance the scope for adjusting energy usage per building requirements.

American designers were also engaged to specify a stainless steel spa, with the end product representing a first in the Australian market.

Overcoming challenges

Five crane lifts were deployed during the project, prompting multiple road closures, communication with street tenancies, traffic management, and approval through Sydney City Council. Of note, a 130 tonne mobile crane was deployed for heavy materials including the new spa, which was lowered onto aligned rubber pads with millimetre precision.

Extensive communication and planning with building occupants – which included the hotel, residents and an international school – was vital to minimising disruption in a live setting. This saw our team implement a comprehensive range of safety produces and enforce a strict separation of the site during COVID.

The rooftop is testament to the power of collaboration, and has increased the principal equity of the strata property for the Body Corporate.
