Paynter Dixon joins delivery team for ‘The Quarter’ in Wodonga city centre

April 28, 2023 | Projects

Committed to project delivery in regional communities, Paynter Dixon is excited to join the delivery team for The Quarter – a new mixed use, multi-storey development in the heart of Wodonga.

Paynter Dixon has been engaged in an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) capacity by CNB Consulting Project Management on behalf of the client, Criterion Property Group.

Entailing the delivery of the North and South Buildings of the precinct, this project is considered a critical part of Paynter Dixon’s regional growth strategy which has been employed throughout the regions over the last period of time.

James Boyd, Executive Chairman of Paynter Dixon, believes The Quarter will provide a vibrant hub in one of Australia’s fastest growing regional cities.

“We are delighted to partner with Criterion Property Group and CNB Consulting Project Management on The Quarter,” said Mr Boyd.

“This new commercial, retail, hospitality and residential precinct is ideally positioned to invigorate the town centre of Wodonga.”

Project details:

  • The North Building will comprise 1,500m2 of ground floor retail and commercial space, 4 storeys of residential apartments and a basement carpark.
  • The South Building will comprise 2,500m2 of commercial space over 3 levels.
  • A landscaped and communal open space will occupy the centre of the site. Visual sight lines will connect to open space on the facing side of Elgin Boulevard.

Mr Boyd says the core of the business is Early Contractor Involvement (ECI).

“We are a design and construction company with almost 110 years of partnering experience.”

“Through ECI, we’re able to collaborate with the client from an earlier stage in the project, exploring avenues to add value in the delivery process and support their business objectives.”

“This has been crucially important in the wake of recent prices escalation from the supplier and subcontractor market. The key is for us is to deliver the project in line with client objectives of the building whilst achieving the commercial outcomes of the development.”

Kirk Bolte, General Manager of Southern Region and ACT, says the project will generate strong employment opportunities for skilled trades in the region.

“As the Principal Contractor, we look forward to working hand-in-hand with the regional business community,” said Mr Bolte.

“Our preference is to engage local consultants and subcontractors wherever possible.”

The City of Wodonga’s population is forecast to grow to 52,424 by 2036, representing an increase of almost 18% on the current population.

“Located in Wodonga’s epicentre, The Quarter will embody the sophistication, diversity and lifestyle choice of this growing regional city.”

Construction is expected to commence in August 2023.
