St Vincent’s Hospital – Endoscopy Suites

Working closely with St Vincent’s Hospital in a fast-moving environment, Paynter Dixon has refurbished technologically-advanced medical facilities.

An endoscopy suite refers to a dedicated area where medical procedures are performed with endoscopes, which are cameras used to visualise structures within the body.

Paynter Dixon was commissioned by St Vincent’s Hospital to oversee the partial demolition of existing built structures and the refurbishment of the endoscopy procedure rooms.

Our team staged worked across an environment which had to remain sterile, live and operational during both construction and the commissioning of services within each of the stages.

Upon completion of each stage, the expectation was to have the area fully commissioned and accessible for use by various medical practitioners.

To minimise noise and disruption to hospital operation, the site team worked night shifts and detailed disruptions notices were provided for all service shutdowns.

The new facilities showcase technical innovation, including installation of the first ever motion activated lead-protected sash window.

Recognition of excellence

The project was awarded ‘Construction (Commercial), Health Buildings – Refurbishment, Up to $10 Million’ at the Master Builders Association of NSW 2023 Excellence in Construction Awards. The award citation noted:

“As a result of the cooperative efforts the project has been successfully delivered … completed in a challenging environment, resulting in a well finished quality outcome for the hospital.”
