Hannah is seizing her future in construction
Paynter Dixon continues to celebrate and support second-year carpentry apprentice, Hannah Ipsen, as her career in construction grows.
Last year, Hannah was named ‘First Year – Apprentice of the Year’ at the 2022 Master Builders Association Excellence in State Awards.
“Before I became an apprentice, I was worried that I wouldn’t be strong enough or be able to overcome certain challenges,” says Hannah. “But the guys on site are heaps supportive with it all. They help out out with any trouble that I have.”
“While it might be a male-dominated industry, everything is equal on a work site!”
In the spirit of International Women’s Day on Tuesday, 8 March, the MBA shone a light on Hannah and the outlook for gender equality in construction.
In 2023 Master Builders continues to see record numbers of female apprentices in Carpentry. Women now make up almost 8% of all Master Builders Carpentry apprentices. This is more than double the industry NSW average of 2%.
