Paynter Dixon has been appointed by Mission Australia Housing to provide Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) services for a proposed new social housing development in Coffs Harbour. The project is a joint initiative between Homes NSW and Mission Australia, aimed at delivering much-needed housing and long-term community support outcomes for the Coffs Harbour region.

Through the ECI phase, Paynter Dixon will work collaboratively with all project partners to help shape a clear, efficient and community-focused pathway to delivery. Our early involvement supports informed decision-making, risk mitigation and strong project foundations ahead of construction. The proposed development comprises a 4-storey residential building over a single-level basement, arranged around a central landscaped courtyard with high levels of architectural articulation and passive surveillance. The building will contain a mix of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments (60 in total) and is designed to maximise solar access and visual connection to the street and courtyard while responding sensitively to its surrounding context.

All apartments will achieve a minimum Gold-level Livable Housing Design (LHD) standard, with a proportion also designed to meet Schedule 4 (seniors housing) accessibility compliance. The current concept design responds to cultural and contextual references, including the Carp totem of the Gumbaynggirr people, informing materiality, colours, and form. This development represents an important investment in social housing for the Coffs Harbour community. We’re proud to support a project that will deliver meaningful, long-term outcomes and essential housing where it’s needed most.
