Paynter Dixon has successfully delivered Sydney’s first new memorial parkland in more than 80 years: Macarthur Memorial Park, a world-class destination for Catholic

Cemeteries + Crematoria (CCC) at Varroville in south-west Sydney. Spanning 113 hectares of open space, the park will serve the community for generations, with

capacity for 136,000 burial plots over the next century.

Designed as a whole-of-community sanctuary, Macarthur Memorial Park blends remembrance with reflection, offering a peaceful environment for gathering, exercise, and connection with nature. Paynter Dixon was engaged from early contractor involvement through to detailed design and construction, ensuring seamless delivery of six new buildings integrated into the tranquil landscape. These include a striking multi-denominational chapel, function room, café, gatehouse, plant workshop, and maintenance facility. Each carefully positioned within the botanic parkland setting.

The result is a landmark project that not only addresses Sydney’s growing need for burial space but also provides an inclusive and enduring place of significance for the region’s diverse communities.
